Day 8: "Zero days"
On paper, you might call Day 8 a “zero day”—I didn’t make much meaningful progress on my projects. But in other aspects of my life, it was a great way to spend my time. I went on a hike with some amazing views and reconnected with long-time friends. I’m still figuring out what the right balance for a weekend schedule—yet another question that remains unanswered when you’re not working a 9 to 5. What that means for this newsletter is that I’ve got nothing super meaningful to share related to the startup journey.
Reflections on Week 1
Week one was turbulent to say the least, and that turbulence is showing no signs of stopping. This is a completely new experience for me, so I guess that should be expected. I’m still not in a position where I can confidently say “this is what I’ll be working on.” It’s natural to have some uncertainty in the beginning, but it’s the first uncertainty I’ll need to reduce.
I’m learning a ton, though. I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how I work when no one’s watching, how I handle internal pressures, and so much about the journey each founder goes through. I’m beginning to see some semblance of a routine established while also experiencing some of the freedoms of choosing what time I work. This newsletter has become a journal for me to stay accountable and has already brought me so many new opportunities to hear from other current and aspiring founders. It’s also taught me about posting on social media, which should help when I want to market my products. As long as I maintain a rapid pace of learning, I’ll consider these 90 days a success.
For week two, I’ve got my first deadline coming up. That means I’ll be doing more heads-down work to try and meet it. This is still early days of my journey, but I thank you for coming along.
