Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about 90 Days. I said earlier that I’d try to show up to write every day even while travelling, but some poor planning on my part meant that I wasn’t able to write. To keep this a sustainable habit, though, I can’t let these misses keep me from continuing the daily practice. So here’s what I’ve been up to.
I visited some very cool people around San Francisco working on their own startups and projects. There’s something magical about the sheer concentration of entrepreneurial people in the city that no other place can match. That’s one thing New York can’t match. Everyone is working on something, drastically increasing the surface area for serendipity and exchange of ideas. The next day, I visited Sequoia National Park to see some of the biggest trees in the world. It was nice to forcibly disconnect for the day (there was no cell reception) and experience these behemoths in person. If you’re around the area, I highly recommend a visit.
I’ve also made considerable strides on my modular synth project, and my biggest struggle now is finding a good way to describe what it is. For someone who already knows about sound engineering, it’s pretty easy, but the real challenge comes when I try to explain it to someone not so experienced. YCombinator asks for a 1-sentence description for every application they receive, and it’s a good exercise to nail down what the core of an idea really is. Simultaneously, I’m gathering potential avenues for launching the product to its desired customer profile, someone learning about sound engineering or experimental music.
Hopefully, I won’t have to miss any more days in the near future, especially once I return home from this trip. Anyways, thanks for coming along for the ride.
We'll stay reading - even if the posts aren't daily. Enjoy your trip!
