Day 3: It's real now
Today was my official last day at work. Although I’ve already started this 90 day journey, it’s finally hit me as real. It’s difficult to leave any job, but it felt extra difficult knowing I was leaving for my own reasons and not any fault of those around me. One by one, I said my goodbyes and exchanged kind words with my colleagues and friends. Soon, my access to systems began shutting off until all that was left was to leave the building.
It’s during those sentimental times where you have a heightened awareness of the things going on around you. The ceiling lights feel a bit brighter. The office chatter sounds a bit clearer. You become aware of each footstep you take down the hall. I lingered around the front of the building for a bit longer before making the trek back home. Taking on last look up at the enormity of the skyscraper, I thought, it’s really over now.
What I’m working on
I took some time to beautify the chord learning app by whipping up a quick Figma design for the main screen. It should be a design major improvement from the screenshot on day one, and I’m still open to any feedback.
At the same time, I’m also working on a different app to be a sheet music viewer for tablets. Forscore is a well known iPad app that does this but the Android equivalents are severely lacking in intuitive UX. I made some updates to the annotation system that lets you mark up the page with your stylus/finger.
Asks
I registered for a Google Play Developer account, meaning I should be able to send my apps out for beta testing. Google has added a new restriction for new accounts that requires 20 closed beta testing users for 14 days before you’re able to publish an app to the Play Store.
If you’ve got an Android device and want to be one of those free testers, please send an email to hi@jinay.dev. I would greatly appreciate it.
