Day 25: Don't knock it till you try it
I think I’m finally starting to understand why they say to start something before you’re ready. For these past few weeks, I’ve been searching for something that I would have the motivation to work on for at least a few months. But I’m not sure it’s possible to figure that out in advance. I’ve had many instances where there’s a food or hobby that I didn’t think I’d like but grew on me over time. So what makes the choice of a project any different?
The modular synth project has so much momentum behind it now that I don’t feel like putting it down just yet. There’s now a long to-do list that has hushed the voice that always asks “what should I be working on next?” I’m starting to think of what a finished product would look like and set my tasks in that direction. Who knows? Maybe this toy project could be useful to people other than me.
Even as I write this, I fear that I’ll eventually give in to another endeavor and leave this one in the graveyard of unfinished projects. I’ll do my best to make sure that doesn’t happen, though.
